Ayyappan Idli Stall

Ayyappan is a no frills South Indian Food stall that was setup in the flower market lane. I first tried it when I was very hungry once and all of my regular restaurants in Matunga had waiting during the Ganpati Festival.

This place was crowded too, but I would surely get my food faster since this is a stall and not a sit down eatery. I was pleasantly surprised with the hot snacks that they prepared.

I love almost all dishes on this stall. They make a variety of new-age dosas too. However, I tend to stick to the classics and am never disappointed.I once tried the Noodle Dosa and didn't like it at all.

They make some of the best crisp Parippu Vadais and the tomato onion chutney served with it is awesome.

Another favorite dish for me is the Masala Uttappam. It is roasted till golden and is sprayed with some podi chutney. Awesome kick I must say.

You get unlimited servings of sambar and chutney (as that's the norm in Matunga). If you are in a rush and want a delicious filling meal, Ayyappan Idli stall is an awesome option. I also prefer it for take-away options.

They shifted to a different address over a year back, so it is no longer easily accessible from Matunga station but is nearer to Sion Hospital now.

Address: Ayyappan Idli Stall, Bharat Mansion, Near SIES High School, Matunga Railway Phatak (East), Mumbai 400 019
